Department Overview

The Bhagwant Institute of Medical Sciences offers diploma & graduate in nursing to meet the diverse needs of the health care sector. Qualified and experienced full-time nursing faculty provides the right mix of inputs comprising of theoretical, practical and clinical experience. The college has a network of health care centres and clinical affiliations with community-based organizations and government agencies. All programmes are recognized by both Indian Nursing Council and UP Nurses & Midwives Council.

Nursing training programmes have been formulated, in consultation with experts, adhering to standards and guidelines. Hands-on-training is given to the students at the 100 bedded hospital at the Medical College, as well as in allied urban and rural health centres. Nursing students attend OPD sessions in the hospital. Students visit different places under community connect and provide primary health services. Students actively participate in health awareness programmes.

The College of Nursing has a magnificent building with spacious class rooms, labs & library. The library is well equipped with latest books in nursing, regular supply of foreign & Indian journals.

1.Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM):

 

ANM stands for Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery. It is a diploma course which focus on the study of health care of various individuals. It also taught about how to take care of equipment, setting up of Operation Theater, provide medication timely to patient and maintain records.

ANM course trains the students & make them capable to work as basic health workers. ANM graduates main focus is given towards the treatment of children, women & old age people.

In India, ANM courses are very popular. There are a total 1890 colleges for these courses, out of which 1615 are private, and 275 are governmental institutions. The total number of seats for this course in India is 54948. Some of the Top ANM colleges in India are CMJ UniversityYBN University, RanchiNetaji Subhas University, JamshedpurParul University, etc.The average initial salary post the completion of an ANM course ranges between 4 to 7 lakhs.

2. General Nursing and Midwifery(GNM):

GNM referred as General Nursing and Midwifery. It deals with the education of nurses in general health care, nursing, and midwifery.

 

"The English Nurse Florence Nightingale is known as the founder of modern nursing. It also taught about how to take care of equipment, setting up of Operation Theatre, provide medication timely to patient and maintain records.

GNM is a three and half year diploma course with the eligibility of 10+2 passed with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The age limit is minimum 17 years and maximum 30 years. This course is for both male and female students.

 

 

3. BSc Nursing:

BSc Nursing is a four year course which is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council. This course focuses on reinstating health and providing care to the sick. It is a great career option for those intending to go for higher studies better their prospects. After finishing BSc in Nursing they can opt for MSc in nursing which will improve their prospects in the job market. They can specialize in psychiatry, Medical-Surgical, Community Health and Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
